…are intimately linked and there is no single agreed definition, rather an attempt to consider the concept in a holistic manner…

Quality

Quality Management & Quality Assurance

Quality is the totality of features and characteristics of humanitarian assistance that support its ability to, in time, satisfy stated or implied needs and expectations, and respect the dignity of the people it aims to assist. (Core Humanitarian Standard-CHS Alliance)

Quality assurance… is a systematic process to determine the extent to which an organisation applies an agreed set of requirements (also called a standard). (Humanitarian Quality Assurance Initiative-HQAI)

Accountability

Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP)
including Community Engagement (CE) & Transparency

Accountability is the process of using power responsibly, taking account of, and being held accountable by, different stakeholders, and primarily those who are affected by the exercise of such power. (Core Humanitarian Standard-CHS Alliance)

Safeguarding

Prevention of, protection from and response to all forms of misconduct, including sexual misconduct, specifically Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) and Sexual Harassment (SH)

Safeguarding broadly means preventing harm to people – and the environment  – in the delivery of development and humanitarian assistance. (Safeguarding Resource and Support Hub-RSH)
